MUSEUM Photographic Art Gallery is a new exhibition space in Woodstock, dedicated to the discovery, development and investment potential of contemporary South African fine art photography. Owned and curated by photographers Dylan Culhane and Greg Beadle, the gallery aims to unearth emerging talent; seeking out bold, original artists engaged in lens-based media.
Every season MUSEUM takes on a maximum of ten artists to fill the walls of our 3-level gallery space, promoting this work intensely over a 3 month period. Our criteria for taking on new artists is essentially an instinctual response to work that excites us, though the overarching criteria for this ethereal reaction might be classified as originality, technical excellence, visual potency, and innovative use of the photographic medium. Our manifesto is to explore the creative capability of photography beyond forensic documentation. As an art form, photography possesses unlimited potential to invigorate the imagination and the intellect simultaneously - to show us a world that exists beneath the veil of objective reality.

We look forward to building strong, productive relationships with like-minded artists, and we pride ourselves in offering sincere, well-informed, and personalised service to our valued clients. Please pay us a visit and stay for a coffee the next time you’re in the area, and make sure you join our mailing list to keep abreast of the latest developments and exhibitions at MUSEUM.
